About

Our Core Values

As a Body of Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are committed to fulfilling the Mission He has given to the Church to proclaim the Gospel and make  disciples.   In doing so, we will firmly maintain these priorities and seek to shape our ministry by them.  These 9 Core Values are what will characterize us, and what we pray will be said of us at Orchard Park.

We are Committed to Glorify God

All that we are and have is for God and His glory and purposes.  We desire God to be at the center of our lives, our relationships and our ministry. We desire to know God better, His nature, attributes and all that He has done and is doing for us.  We will devote ourselves to love God with all we are and have.  We will remind ourselves of His faithfulness to us.  We will seek to worship Him in spirit and in truth with our lives, and to celebrate Him when we meet together as His people with the praise and worship that is due His Name.

Our God is a holy God.  He has called us to lives of holiness.  We know and affirm our need to be a holy people, committed to living lives of personal holiness and public godliness.

We desire our ministry to be shaped by a commitment to love God fully, and to bring glory to Him in all we say and do together as a local church.

(Deut. 6:4,5; Psalm 103; Matthew 6:9,10; John 4:23,24; 15:8; Romans 11:36; 12:1,2; 15:5,6; Eph. 1:4; 3:20; Col. 1:9-11; 1 Peter 1:14-16)

We at Orchard Park commit ourselves to glorify God!

We are Committed to the Word of God

We believe that the Bible is God’s written Word to the world.  He has revealed Himself in and through His Word.  The Bible is authorized by the Spirit of God to be the only source of divine truth.  It is completely sufficient for our need to know God, His truth, His plan of salvation, and for all the issues of life and godliness.   In God’s Word we find biblical truth, sound doctrine, and spiritual encouragement for life and ministry.  The Word of God expresses the Mind of Christ!

We submit ourselves to the Word of God as the foundation for all we know and do. We completely rely upon it for our understanding of God; our faithful and obedient walk with Him, our faith in Jesus Christ, our relationships, and our ministry together as God’s people.

As a Church, we will equip and encourage ourselves with God’s Word in order to faithfully serve the Lord Jesus Christ as His disciples, and to share His truth and love to our community and to the world.

(Psalm 1; 19:7-11; 119; Luke 11:28; Romans 15:4; 2 Tim. 3:14-17; Romans 10:14-17; Eph. 4:11-17; 2 Tim. 3:14-17; Hebrews 4:12; James 1:22-25; 2 Peter 1:3)

We at Orchard Park commit ourselves to the Word of God!

We are Committed to the Preaching and Teaching of the Word of God

Because we believe that all of Scripture is inspired and authorized by the Spirit of God, we will continue to faithfully and fully preach, teach and apply the Word of God as our source of truth and our guide for life and ministry.  We affirm our need to know God’s Word in order to grow in our relationship with Him, and serve Him faithfully.

We will give full attention to the whole counsel of God.  By expositional preaching and teaching we will fully explore what a book, chapter and verse of the Bible teaches us in its context. We will let God’s Word determine its own interpretation and application to our lives and ministry. We desire the Spirit of God to use His Word to guide and instruct us.  We will be open and responsive to all that He teaches us, and requires from us through His Word.

We will not be driven to understand or communicate the Word by contemporary trends that may shape the preaching of the Word to fit the desires and felt needs of our culture.   We will not seek to ‘attract’ people to our church by avoiding parts of the Word that are not popular.  We will not ‘tone down’ biblical truth to avoid how it may challenge and confront our contemporary culture’s attitudes and behaviors.

Instead, we will preach and teach the Word of God in its fullness in a spirit of grace, love, and truth.  The example of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the preaching and teaching of the Apostles and the Early Church, will be our guide as to how we must preach and teach the Word of God in the church, and in the world.

Our church and our leadership will own its responsibility to teach biblical truth, sound doctrine, and spiritual encouragement from the Word of God, for believers, the church, and those who have yet to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  By completely honoring and upholding God’s Word, we also bring glory to God Himself.

(Psalm 138:1,2; Isaiah 55:11; Matt. 24:35; Acts 2:42; 20:26-32; 1 Cor. 1:17-25; 2:1-5; 4:6; Eph. 4:11-17; Col. 3:16,17; 1 Tim. 4:13; 6:2-5; 2 Tim. 4:2)

We at Orchard Park commit ourselves to the Preaching and Teaching of the whole counsel of the Word of God!

We are Committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ

We exist as a church under the absolute authority and Lordship of our Savior, Jesus Christ!  He is the full example of all of God the Father’s character and capabilities.  He is the full and only example of God’s saving grace.  He demonstrated God’s perfect love for us by dying for our sins and setting us free to serve Him.  He alone has earned the right to be our Savior and Lord.

We as the Church are His Bride. He is the Head of The Church and we are His Body. He is our Chief Shepherd and we are His sheep.  He is our Pastor and we are His people.

The Lord Jesus Christ is in charge of our local church.  All we are and do is owing to His divine authority, power, wisdom, mercy and grace. We belong to Him and we are His!  We desire to please Him in everything!  We will respond to Him with all the love, devotion and obedience that He deserves. We will obediently follow His Word.

(John20:24-31; 2 Cor.5:9,10; Eph. 1; Phil.2:1-11; Phil.3; Col.1:10; 1 Peter3:15-18; 5:4)

We at Orchard Park devote ourselves to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

We are Committed to Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself proclaimed that He alone is the only way to a saving relationship with God the Father!  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the ‘power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes’. The Gospel of Christ is the only ‘Good News’ there is.  There is no eternal  ‘good news’ apart from the message of the Cross of Christ.

We are committed to the necessity of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the only plan of salvation for all of humanity.  It is the Gospel concerning Jesus Christ that everyone must hear, and respond to in repentance and faith for salvation.

We take to heart the Great Commission the Lord Jesus gave His disciples to preach the Gospel and make disciples of all nations.  We are to be witnesses concerning Jesus Christ and to show and tell His truth and love to the whole world.  That is the mission of the Church.  It is our mission at Orchard Park.  Our mission will never change!

(Matthew 24:14; 28:16-20; John 13:34,35; 14:6; Act 1:8,9; 2:37,38; 4:12; 16:30,31; Rom. 1:16; 2 Cor. 5:11-21; Eph. 1:13; 1 Tim. 2:1-7)

We at Orchard Park commit ourselves to clearly proclaiming the Gospel of  Jesus Christ!

We are Committed to Demonstrating Christ’s love to the World

Our witness concerning the Gospel of Jesus Christ must also be shown by how we care for the needs of the world around us.  The Lord Jesus Himself demonstrated His love for others by ‘doing good’ as He proclaimed His Gospel to those around Him!  The Apostles and the Early Church impacted their world by sharing the Gospel and showing the Love of Christ to those they had contact with.

As we share the Good News of Jesus Christ, we will help others by ‘doing good’!  We are committed to actively helping to meet needs locally, regionally, nationally, and globally, by the giving of our time, talents, and resources.  Both individually, and as a church, we will prioritize the giving of ourselves to meet the legitimate needs of others by acts of mercy and compassion in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

(Matthew 5:16; Acts 2:43-47; 10:38; 2 Cor. 9:8; Eph. 2:10)

We at Orchard Park commit ourselves to showing Christ’s love to the world!

We are Committed to the Work of the Spirit of God

We affirm the ministry of the Spirit of God, and our need to rely on Him completely for our lives and ministry together as a local church.  He is the author of all of Scripture.  He alone enables us to understand and discern God’s Word, the truth of Christ, and to how to apply it to our lives.

He indwells and seals every believer in Christ upon conversion.  He gave birth to The Church and places every believer into the Body of Christ.

He reproduces the ‘fruit’ of the character and qualities of Jesus Christ in every believer, and in the Church. He enables us to be like our Lord Jesus Christ. He keeps us from being controlled by our sinful natures as we yield to Him.

The Spirit of God gives His gifts of ministry ability and service to every believer.  We will help each other discover and exercise the gifts that He has given to each one.  We must be faithful stewards of what He has given us, and together, fulfill Christ’s will by the Spirit’s power.

It is the Spirit of God that enables the Church to be effective witnesses of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He alone empowers the believer and the church to proclaim the Gospel.  He alone brings true repentance and faith to the human heart.

We will not rely on human efforts, methods or marketing to attract or produce disciples of Jesus Christ.  We will rely on the Spirit of God, using the Word of God and the People of God, to reach our community and our world for Jesus Christ!

We will not rely on our own strength, wisdom and ability for ministry.  We will depend upon the Spirit of God and His guiding wisdom and power in all we are and do.

(John 14:16,17,26; 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:5-17; 1 Cor. 2:10-16; Gal. 5:16-25;    1 Cor. 12-14; Eph. 1:13,14; 5:18)

We at Orchard Park submit ourselves to the Spirit of God!

We are Committed to The Church, the Body of Christ

We are committed to The Universal Church of Jesus Christ! The Son of God came to earth and died for The Church. He loves The Church as His Bride. He alone will build His Church.  The Church is His Body here on earth.  He has called The Church to bear His Name, and to be His witness in the world.  It is in and through The Church that every believer comes to know Him, grow in Him, serve Him, and proclaim Him to the world. The Church is God’s chosen vehicle for reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We will do our part to partner with the global Church in reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit has given birth to The Church and places every believer into it as the Body of Christ.  He fulfills the mission of Christ in and through His Church.  He works in the life of every believer through The Church.

We are committed to the local church! Much of the New Testament was written to and for local churches as vital expressions of The Church, the Body of Christ.  It is in and through the local church that the individual believer learns and exercises the worship, fellowship, and stewardship required of God’s people.  It is in and through the local church that believers come together to hear the Word of God taught, to pray for and with each other, and to show Christ’s love for each other as He taught us to do.

We faithfully commit ourselves to meet together every week to provide for the teaching of the Word, the worship of God, the fellowship of God’s people, the stewardship of giving, and prayer.

We will regularly observe the Lord’s commands to celebrate Communion and to baptize new believers and welcome them into the life and ministry of Orchard Park.

We uphold that every believer unites practically in real life with the Body of Christ through a committed relationship with a local body of believers.

We believe it is vitally important for every believer to be responsible and accountable to a local church for their growth and maturity in Christ, their spiritual care and well-being, their call to serve others, and the exercise of their fruitfulness and giftedness.  We will strive together to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace as a local church of Jesus Christ.

(Matt. 16:16:13-19; John 13:34,35; Acts 2; Romans 12:3-21; 1 Cor. 12-14; Gal. 6:1-11; Eph. 4:1-16; 5:22-32; Col. 3:12-17; Rev. 2-3)

We at Orchard Park are committed to The Church both universal and local!

We are Committed to Depending on God through Prayer

We recognize the privilege and responsibility of the believer, and the church, to depend upon God through prayer.  God the Father has commanded us to pray, Jesus Christ has taught us how to pray in His Name, and the Spirit of God enables us to pray spiritually and effectively.

By committing ourselves to prayer we are acknowledging to God, ‘we need you Heavenly Father, for everything we are and have need of’.   When we pray, we are not relying on our own wisdom and strength both individually and as a church.  When we pray we show our dependence on God as our Father, on Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and on the Holy Spirit as our Helper and Guide.

We will continue to be a praying church!

(Matthew 6:9-13; Acts 2:42; Romans 12:12; Col. 4:2; Eph. 6:18,19; 1 Thess. 5:17; 1 Tim. 2:1-3,8; James 5:16)

We at Orchard Park commit ourselves to Depend upon God in Prayer!

We at Orchard Park affirm these Core Values as the priorities that will shape our church and how we will fulfill the mission that our Lord Jesus Christ has given to us as His Body here in NOTL, and throughout the World.

It is our firm desire and prayer that these Core Values will characterize us. We pray that it will be said of us, as a local body of believers, that Orchard Park…
